Deep Space 8K: Virtual Anatomy

In “Virtual Anatomy”, one of the species cavorting on planet Earth takes centre stage and makes visible in a spectacular way what complex organisms evolution produces.

Measurement data from modern medicine, specifically magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), are transformed into photorealistic, three-dimensional models using Hollywood-style visualisation strategies that make the inside of Homo Sapiens visible and comprehensible in a way that has never been seen before. “Virtual Anatomy” is a multi-year cooperation project involving Prof. Dr. Franz Fellner from the Department of Radiology at Kepler University Hospital Linz, Siemens Healthineers and the Ars Electronica Futurelab.

In cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Medical Imaging MEVIS, the heart is examined more closely: New technologies like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) now make it possible to get incredibly detailed views and to draw conclusions that are more precise than ever.
