"AIRPORT SOUNDSCAPES #1 Wien Schwechat" is made audible by specially developed software that transforms digital air traffic data into sound control commands.
Data from the airport control tower function like a musical interpreter, triggering sound sequences and determining their volume and spatial movement (e.g. destination airport = character of sound; approaching = sound on).
The data permanently play the composition live; the sounds are audible as long as there are takeoffs and landings. The dimensional sonic sculpture works with acoustic structures between tempered and natural moods, sound and noise, and the interrelationship of several independent time structures in the space.
